Taking ‘inspiration’ from designers or making blatant copies of other people’s work is a practice that is followed blatantly in the fashion industry.
Sometimes it even goes unnoticed.
But when it comes to popular designers or work that is recognised popularly, it is hard to pass on your work as original. Especially when it is a designer like Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
One would think that designers won’t go that far to copy a trademark style, but seems like we are wrong.
Diet Sabya, an anonymous platform dedicated to exposing ‘inspirations’ (or fake copies) in the world of fashion, took to Instagram to call out famous television actress Divyanka Tripathi for wearing the iconic Sabyasachi Bengal tiger motif belt.
The same belt was spotted on Aishwarya Rai, which she wore for her collaboration with Sabyasachi and a make-up brand.
Diet Sabya posted the picture with the caption, “#Guts On A Sunday afternoon! Y’all will often tell us not to blame the celebrity, but you’ve to live under a giant rock to not know that this is an iconic @sabyasachiofficial belt. NO excuses!”
The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein star had posted the photos of her wearing the ensemble, which is by a clothing brand called Raisin, recently.
She wore the dress for an event and was styled by Victor Robinson.
The similarity between the belt that Divyanka wore and the iconinc Sabyasachi belt is so uncanny that at first look one would believe the ensemble is from the designer’s collection.
Seems like Divyanka is the newest addition to the list of celebs who have been called out for wearing rip-offs.
But this one by Divyanka tops it all, since Sabyasachi is an Indian brand and the Bengal tiger motif belt as iconic as the designer himself.
